Announcing the 8th Edition release of the FCIA Firestop Manual of Practice (MOP)

The FCIA Firestop Manual of Practice, 8th Edition (MOP) is the firestop industry’s handbook of accepted firestop knowledge. It is used by contractors, inspectors, architects, engineers, manufacturers, building officials, fire marshals, and others worldwide to learn about the industry and to use as a reference guide.

The MOP is also used as a reference document and study guide for both the FM Firestop Exam and the UL-ULC Firestop Exam for those Specialty Firestop Installation Contractors seeking accreditation under the FM 4991, Standard for the Approval of Firestop Contractors and/or the UL-ULC Qualified Firestop Contractor programs, and for Special Inspection Agencies pursuing third-party accreditation through the IAS AC 291 Accreditation of Special Inspection Agencies program.

In the 8th edition FICA MOP, you’ll find information on firestop systems and selection, firestop materials, quality control, project management, as well as a new Firestop Inspection chapter which focuses on the key code and standards requirements for inspection of firestop systems, plus FCIA’s positions on various issues in the field of firestopping inspection.
