FCIA's Accreditation Committee - Aedan Gleeson, (Gleeson Powers, Inc.) Chair, and Bill McHugh have worked hard promoting FM 4991 to the architectural community. Last Fall, FM 4991 was added as a contractor criteria to BSD's SpecLink Master Specification. BSD SpecLink is distributed used by thousands of architectural firms nationwide. Architects use the program to build specifications projects for their firms. Click here to visit the newsletter section referring to FM 4991.

Additionally, Aedan, Bill & FCIA's efforts with ARCOM MasterSpec has resulted in the addition of both FM 4991 "Standard for the Approval of Firestop Contractors" and ASTM E 2174, "Standard for the Inspection of Through Penetration Firestop Systems". FM Approval is being specified and held in specs. Get approved to meet specs, and improve your firm's business operations.

FCIA's Marketing Committee - Don Murphy, (PPMI Firestop, Inc) Chair, FCIA Marketing Committee requests your help staffing the Trade Show Booth at The CSI Show in Chicago, April 9 - 11, 2003; hours 10:00 am - 3:00 pm, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We're sharing space with IFC (Booth #1450) and have contractors to help represent FCIA. The next show is NFPA, Dallas, TX, May 18 - 21. If you can be at the NFPA Show booth, reply to this email or call Don Murphy, PPMI Firestop at 317.894.9111, or the FCIA Office at 630.690.0682. Trade Shows FCIA will be attending in 2003, including NFPA and the ICC Code Show, are posted on the FCIA Website.

FCIA In the News - See the Firestop Industry article that appeared in National Insulation Association's Outlook Magazine, written by Bill McHugh. Also, visit the presentations section of the website for information on FM 4991 Quality Manuals, Codes, and an "FCIA, FM 4991 and ASTM E 2174" presentation that is suitable for presentation to GC's, Owners, Architects and others. FCIA is providing tools for making the specialty firestop contractor a true professional.

FCIA Merchandise - Check out the FCIA Merchandise available on the website, and at FCIA Conferences. We have access to most anything you'd want with the FCIA Logo. And, if you'd like customizing, we'd be happy to have your logo added to these shirts for additional cost.

Other FCIA Committees - The Accreditation, Technical and Code Committees have each had teleconferences over the past 30 days. Teleconferences have made our committees more productive and built stronger teams to further our industry's call for Fire and Life Safety, and Property Protection.
