FCIA Board of Directors Meeting
- "Board Flash" - The FCIA Board met in Orlando
Florida, January 15, 16 and 17, 2003. The FCIA Board of Directors
expressed an interest to get more FCIA Members involved in
Committee work, and involved in the association. Below are
some highlights:
The FCIA Board met with the American Society of Mechanical
Engineers (ASME) committee about the proposed "ASME Standard
for Firestop Installers". Scott Rankin, (Pyro-Stop, LLC)
and Bill McHugh, (FCIA Executive Director) were appointed
to the committee by ASME to represent FCIA.
The FCIA Board decided to watch the Al Paul Lefton (APL)
PR Campaign develop over the next year, before financially
committing resources to the program. FCIA is still a relatively
new organization, with financial resources being used already
for other initiatives. APL presented their program in Nashville
Friday morning. We'll hear more about this as it develops.
The FCIA Board dedicated itself to research Firestop Education
programs available in the industry. Both the Technical Committee
and Education Committees have produced education material
for use by members.
Harley Ridin' Roger McKenzie (McKenzie Insulation) and Ray
Usher (SUPERL, Inc.) rode their way around Orlando on Harley
Davidson Motorcycles after the board meeting. Who said FCIA
Board of Directors meetings have to be all work and no play!!
FCIA Committees in Action - During January and early
February, the Technical & Program Committees met via teleconference.
The Technical Committee is planning a meeting in the Florida
Keys Feb. 27 - March 2. Get involved in a committee by contacting
the chair. Visit www.fcia.org/committees.php for contact info.
